LOS ANGELES - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug masih bertahan di peringkat pertama box office selama tiga pekan berturut-turut.
Film yang disutradarai Peter Jackson itu berhasil meraih keuntungan sebesar USD29,9 juta atau sekira Rp366 miliar.
Meski terdapat lima film baru yang dirilis pekan ini, sekuel The Hobbit itu tidak tergoyahkan, dan bertahan di posisi pertama box office.
Peringkat kedua ditempati film animasi dari Disney, Frozen (2013), dengan keuntungan USD28,8 juta atau setara Rp352 miliar. Sedangkan posisi ketiga adalah Anchorman: The Legend Continues yang meraih pendapatan USD20,2 juta (Rp247 miliar).
Urutan keempat ditempati American Hustle dengan perolehan USD18,5 juta (Rp226 miliar), disusul The Wolf of Wall Street di peringkat kelima dengan USD19,6 juta (Rp240 miliar). Meski berada di posisi kelima, film tersebut sukses meraih keuntungan terbesar di antara lima film baru yang dirilis, pekan ini.
